Smart Home technology has a broad definition and consumer impression. Is it all about features and gadgetry? Is it about convenience and innovation? It’s all of that, and more. Smart homes have the potential to meet and exceed the consumers’ growing expectations of convenience, sustainable living, safety, and security.
While having been a hot topic for a few years, Smart Homes’ greatest potential and opportunities still lies ahead. Great products like Nest®, Echo®, Google Home®, Ring™, Schlage Connect™, and Tesla Powerwall™ ALL offer some of the industries most advanced smart home technologies…and this is just a very small representation of the number of products on the market currently, or about to be.
The adoption of the smart home technology today is growing every year. In 2016, 80 million smart home devices were delivered worldwide, a 64 percent increase from 2015, according to IHS Markit. Analysts say despite the growth last year, 2017 is the year of the smart home because the companies behind the technology are getting smarter about educating their consumers.
Smart Home technology is not without it’s list of barriers to entry: high prices, limited demand and long device replacement cycles. However, of all of these, the biggest barrier is the technological division of the smart home environment, in which consumers need multiple networking devices, apps and more to build and run their smart home. While there are providers making headway in bringing a more cohesive home ecosystem, it’s still an area of concern.
Builders are taking notice of the consumers demand, and have implemented smart home technology into their models and designs for new home developments. They are either all inclusive, or sold ‘a la carte’ as an upsell, just as granite counter tops, or hard wood floors may be.
However, one smart home technology benefit has been over looked … until now. Now you can have smart home technology for a homes plumbing system. With all of the time, heart and money that is invested into building and purchasing that perfect home, something as simple as a small unknown pinhole leak in your plumbing can bring catastrophic and very costly water damage, and even mold.
AquaTrip® serves as a ‘trip switch’, or ‘breaker switch’ for the homes entire plumbing system. Not only does it detect abnormal water flow, it actually STOPS the water from continuing to flow until the leak is addressed. Just knowing, or ‘detecting’ a leak or moisture isn’t enough if you’re unable to physically turn the water off to mitigate further damage. AquaTrip® gives you that peace of mind, and provides the homeowner, or property owner, the control to regain water usage.
